Markree Castle, with its relaxed atmosphere, picture-perfect 500-acre grounds and luxury accommodation, provides the ideal location to celebrate a wedding, and the freedom to create a wedding you have always dreamed of. On your wedding day, arrive by wedding car or if you want something more unique, arrive by boat to our boathouse, or by horse and carriage or on horseback through our ‘port la couer’ at the front of the castle.
Part of the uniqueness of Markree is that you and your guests use Markree as you would your own home, with a drinks’ reception in the Grand Hall in front of the fire, a five-course banquet in our unique individual adjoining dining rooms and dancing in the specially designed entertainment suite, which features a Gin and Whiskey bar. It’s like a house party in a castle! Guests can use our Butlers kitchen – a hidden gem where late night food and the wedding cake are served with tea and coffee, while the wedding couple can relax before dinner with their own private mini bar in our Billiard Room.

The Wedding Suite is much more than a suite - it's a three-room apartment located in the oldest part of the castle, down flag-stoned corridors, boasting an open fire and in-room bar!
Markree Castle is registered for civil ceremonies and partnerships, which can take place in a choice of five different locations including our onsite chapel, which boasts beautiful stained-glass windows and an antique church organ, or among the rich décor in the Grand Hall.
Alternatively, if you would prefer to say your vows amid the beauty of the great outdoors, we have three outdoor locations: the stunning natural setting of the castle terrace – which overlooks the rose garden, under the trees in our landscaped forest or perhaps a ceremony among our manicured gardens may be the perfect spot for you to say “I do”.
