Wedding Styling – Top Hacks from the team at My Event Stylist

Planning your wedding is one of the most exciting, but at times daunting, events you’ll ever organise. If you’re one of the lucky few who has your own wedding planner then you’re in safe hands – but for the majority of us our wedding is the first and biggest event you’ll every have to plan. It’s a day you will talk about forever and want to be perfect – so here are our top tips to ensure you enjoy the build up and every minute of the day itself.

Go Big on One or Two Things

The average Irish couple spends €550 on decorations for their wedding. It’s not an insignificant amount of money, but it’s also difficult to make stretch across absolutely every little thing. Choose one or two  guest experiences in your day that you want to make that little extra bit special and focus your budget there. For example the little extra touches of themed straws , hand written messages and cocktail accessories at your drinks reception always make people smile… and it’s early enough in the day that people will appreciate!

Get Creative

Themed photo backdrops are a big trend at the moment. However, a flower photo wall can cost in excess of €2000 – so look at alternative ways to create the same beautiful impact. Using colourful paper fans can create the most stunning backdrop that all you and all your guests will enjoy.

Check the small detail with your venue in advance!

Most venues host open days, which will give you an insight on what details they can help with on the day. Some venues offer more than others, so if you want to personalise different points of your wedding, have a very honest conversation with the venue wedding organiser. And before you hand over your deposit, make sure you have everything confirmed in writing!

Neutral Décor

Time and time again we’ve seen people’s wedding theme change from their original plan. If you not 100% certain on things like colour theme then play it safe and go for wedding décor that is more neutral in colour – so it can flex to whatever your needs end up being on the big day. Glass decorations are stunningly beautiful and really on trend right now. Plus little things different coloured candles, twine or floral touches can be easily changed at the last minute.

Delegate

Your mates, bridal party and family are a great team to lend a helping hand. Don’t be afraid to delegate some tasks to them, particularly when it comes to wedding styling. It’s always lovely to have a few little surprises for the happy couple and who better to look after that than their nearest and dearest.
